How Can Agricultural Waste Be Utilized as a Resource?

Building ecological agriculture is an inevitable path for current development, and the resource utilization of agricultural waste is a crucial step toward achieving an ecological cycle. Agricultural waste refers to the byproducts generated from agricultural production, livestock and poultry breeding, agricultural product processing, and rural residential activities, such as plant straws, human and animal manure, etc. These are reusable resources that can be turned into wealth through treatment, achieving a healthy ecological cycle. So, how can agricultural waste be utilized as a resource? Let’s explore the details below.

Among agricultural waste, the following two main types are highly suitable for resource utilization and can generate economic benefits through treatment:

1. Crop Production Residues:
These refer to remnants in farmlands and orchards, such as crop straws, fruit tree branches, weeds, fallen leaves, and fruit shells. (As the most important part of agricultural waste), they are rich in organic matter, cellulose, hemicellulose, crude protein, crude fat, and various nutrients like nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, calcium, magnesium, and sulfur. They can be widely used as feed, fuel, and fertilizer.

Hongfa [Intelligent Aerobic Fermentation Treatment Line for Agricultural and Livestock Solid Waste] Realizes the Resource Utilization of Straw Organic Fertilizer

Hongfa's equipment utilizes an aerobic microbial fermentation process. It can comprehensively treat and utilize organic solid wastes such as agricultural straws, livestock manure, kitchen waste, Chinese medicine residues, and municipal sludge, converting them into organic fertilizers. The fermentation process is designed within a closed space and consists of four parts: mixing and deodorization, fermentation and maturation, air supply and exhaust, and monitoring and control. Featuring PLC intelligent automatic control for material mixing, inoculation and deodorization, turning and aeration, temperature and moisture control, ammonia and oxygen monitoring, and gas purification, this production line boasts high automation, fast processing speed, and energy-saving, eco-friendly performance.

2. Livestock and Poultry Manure:
This includes animal manure and bedding materials. (The main livestock and poultry include pigs, cattle, sheep, horses, donkeys, mules, camels, chickens, ducks, geese, and rabbits). Rich in organic matter and high levels of N, P, K, and trace elements, they are excellent raw materials for fertilizer production. During the composting and fertilization process, organic matter is processed, decomposed, and resynthesized by microorganisms, ultimately forming humus stored in the soil. Humus has multifaceted effects on improving soil and enhancing fertility: it regulates soil moisture, temperature, air, and fertilizer efficiency to meet crop growth needs; adjusts soil pH; forms soil aggregate structures; extends and enhances fertilizer effectiveness; promotes rapid water absorption by plants; and aids in seed germination, root development, and thermal insulation. However, since livestock manure has a strong odor and is difficult to sell as a commercial fertilizer, deodorization methods such as fermentation, chemical, and physicochemical treatments are required.

Hongfa [Integrated Equipment for Livestock and Poultry Manure Treatment and Organic Fertilizer Production] Realizes the Resource Utilization of Manure into Organic Fertilizer

Hongfa's manure treatment production line mainly adopts the principle of aerobic fermentation. Dry auxiliary materials such as straw powder, rice husk powder, and cassava residue are added to the manure to adjust moisture and the carbon-to-nitrogen ratio. After adding microbial strains, the materials are thoroughly mixed by a stirring system. Then, the mixed materials are conveyed into the main machine via a transmission system and heated to 45°C to rapidly activate high-temperature composite microbial strains. In an optimal environment of adequate moisture and temperature, these microbes multiply quickly and produce various microbial enzymes. Driven by the microbial flora and enzymes, odor molecules, cellulose, proteins, sugars, and fats are rapidly decomposed. The process achieves rapid deodorization and harmless treatment within 4 hours, and produces fertilizer in just 48 hours. The materials are then transported by conveyor belts to a storage area for secondary aging and maturation, ultimately forming qualified organic fertilizer ready for packaging and dispatch. This equipment features low total installed power and operating costs, consuming only 7 kWh of electricity per cubic meter of raw material processed. It enables automated production with a single operator, saving both labor and time. A single unit can process up to 200 cubic meters per day, with zero wastewater and exhaust gas emissions during production, making it highly eco-friendly and energy-efficient.
